About Us:
A Journey of Flavour and Family

In 1978, a brave and determined family embarked on a life-changing journey from Vietnam to Canada, carrying with them dreams of a new beginning and the rich flavours of their homeland. The Vong family, consisting of Mr and Mrs Vong and their three young children, set foot on Canadian soil, ready to build a better future for themselves and their loved ones.

Their journey was not without its challenges. In those early years, Mr Vong worked hard in a fish factory to earn money to start his own business. It was a time of adaptation and resilience as they navigated a new culture and way of life. But their unwavering spirit and the unbreakable bonds of family kept them moving forward.

In 1984, the Vong family's dream came true when they opened their own restaurant in the town of Bouctouche. This charming eatery would become a beloved fixture in the community, serving not only delicious food, but also heartfelt connections at every table. Over the years, the restaurant became a place where memories were made and friendships were forged, all under the welcoming roof of the Vong family's culinary haven.

As the years passed, the Vong children grew up surrounded by the warmth and aroma of their family's restaurant. They imbibed the values of hard work, dedication and a passion for good food as they helped their parents with the day-to-day running of the restaurant. The eldest son, Kiet, had a dream of his own. In pursuit of his studies and a career in the hospitality industry, he travelled to the vibrant city of Vancouver.

It was in Vancouver that Kiet's life took a fateful turn. He found himself working as a banquet manager at the prestigious Sheraton Hotel. Fate had a special surprise in store for him when he met Monika, a restaurant manager from Bresno, Slovakia. Their shared love of the culinary world and deep connection soon blossomed into a beautiful partnership, both on and off the dining room floor.

In 2003, Kiet and Monika made the decision to return to their roots in the East to help Kiet's parents run the family restaurant. Their arrival marked a new chapter in the restaurant's history, bringing fresh perspectives, innovative ideas and international flair to the menu. Over the years, their dedication to the restaurant became increasingly evident and the torch was slowly passed from one generation to the next.

In 2017, Kiet and Monika took the reins of the restaurant, breathing new life into the family legacy while preserving the cherished traditions that had made it so beloved. Their commitment to excellence and a shared vision for the future led to even greater success. With the third generation already beginning to bring their youthful energy and creativity to the restaurant's operations, the Vong family's culinary journey was poised for a bright and flavourful future.

As we approach the year 2024, we eagerly anticipate the celebration of the 40th anniversary of this remarkable family business. Three generations of the Vong family have poured their hearts and souls into this restaurant, creating a place where not only food is served, but the spirit of family and community thrives. We invite you to join us in this celebration and savour the flavours of our journey as we continue to create cherished memories, one dish at a time.
